Last year, 2007, Dr Beach named Ocracoke the No. 1 beach in America. I was on the island a few weeks after that and was just amazed how many cars could fit in the parking area at the lifeguard beach access. I was also amazed how much stuff this couple had in tow. Well, i'd rather lug a beach chair than a briefcase any day!
